Message of congratulations to President Dmitry Medvedev of the Russian Federation on Russia Day

On behalf of the Lithuanian people and on my own behalf, allow me to congratulate you on your national holiday - Russia Day. I would like to offer my best wishes for your strength and success as well as for the well-being, peace and concord of the people of Russia.

I am delighted that as we celebrate this year the twentieth anniversary of the reestablishment of diplomatic relations between Lithuania and Russia, we can enjoy well-developed and many-sided political, economic, cultural, and social ties. In my letter of greetings to you on Russia Day, I would like to express strong wish that our cooperation contributes directly to strengthening the economies of our two countries, to promoting the values of freedom and democracy, and to improving the security, stability and well-being of the entire region. I firmly believe that shared responsibility and common actions on the path of creating the best possible environment for peaceful and sustainable development is the interest that unites us. I invite us to pursue this interest through join activities and projects in a wide range of areas: from the preservation of the Baltic Sea ecological system to the consolidation of regional collaboration.
